Polylactic Acid (PLA) fiber is not only an eco-friendly material but also a preferred choice for functional textiles, featuring skin-care, antibacterial, deodorizing, and moisture-wicking/quick-drying properties.

Skin Care, Rejuvenating Skin
PLA fibers are weakly acidic and can slowly release lactic acid, helping to exfoliate, promote epidermal metabolism, and stimulate collagen growth. They are truly “wearable skincare products.”
Natural Antibacterial, Rejecting Odors
Relying on their inherent acidity to destroy the cellular structure of odor-causing bacteria, they eliminate odors at the source—safe and non-irritating.
Smart Moisture Management, Warm in Winter and Cool in Summer
Winter Warmth: Low thermal conductivity locks in warmth;
Summer Cool: Excellent moisture-wicking properties rapidly dissipate body heat through evaporation, keeping you dry and breathable.
PLA BI-COMPONENT STAPLE
PLA bi-component fiber is a leading and featured product of eSUN. Featuring a sheath-core structure (low-melting sheath, high-melting core), it is used for hot-air and hot-rolled nonwovens. Its self-bonding capability eliminates the need for additional adhesives, ensuring full degradability and making the finished product safe and eco-friendly.

PLA bi-component fibers can be combined with natural fibers (such as cotton, hemp, silk, wool) or regenerated cellulose fibers (such as viscose, lyocell, modal, bamboo fiber) to produce spunlace nonwovens, needle-punched nonwovens, wadding, or felt. Replacing conventional low-melt polyester or ES fibers, they meet the requirement for fully degradable products, providing a greener and more sustainable solution for product upgrades.
PLA YARN/PLA FABRIC
PLA yarn products jointly developed by eSUN and downstream partners include: 100% pure PLA yarns and PLA blended yarns (mixed with cotton, viscose, wool, Tencel, modal, etc.).

Selected PLA Fabric Showcase:

APPLICATIONS OF POLYLACTIC ACID FIBERS
eSUN PLA fibers offer wide applicability and can be blended with cotton, viscose, wool, Tencel, modal, and other materials to create various garments, such as T-shirts, Polo shirts, underwear, sweaters, pajamas, or loungewear.

APPLICATIONS OF POLYLACTIC ACID NONWOVENS
PLA fiber and nonwoven products possess excellent biocompatibility, moisture permeability, antibacterial/deodorizing properties, and biodegradability.On one hand, they meet medical and hygiene demands for skin-friendly comfort and antibacterial/odor-free performance (suitable for allergy-prone people); on the other hand, their biodegradability offers a solution to the “white pollution” caused by disposable medical and hygiene products.
